Lightning Labs Taproot Assets v0.8 Enables Stablecoin Development on Bitcoin Network

Lightning Labs released Taproot Assets version 0.8 alongside a new SDK, achieving full open-source status and enabling stablecoin development on the Bitcoin network. The release expands the utility of the Bitcoin network as a stablecoin issuance rail. SBI Holdings separately announced the launch of a yen-backed stablecoin, JPYSC, by late Q2 2026.
